Some artists illustrate the work of writers. Michael Burton “Urban Rockwell” handled both sides of the equation in “Let Me Paint a Picture,” a self-published book of stories and poems. Acrylic paintings and works of graphite on paper from that book are among the works he’ll be showing throughout the month of February 2012, Black History Month. Visitors to the North Riverside Mall Theatre, located at 7501 West Cermak Road, can see these along with examples of Burton’s earlier works on display in the lobby exhibit space.

Escorted into Berwyn City Hall on Tuesday night, January 24 by his proud family, 5-year old Hillside resident Leland Rodriguez handed over money he raised in support of his heroes in the U. S. military.

According to his mother, Tasha, from the time Leland was 3, he has made it very clear that when he “grows up” he wants to serve his country, first in the military and then as a police officer.
