A standing room only crowd filled the chambers to listen to the platforms of the 6 candidates that attended. The evening’s deepest round of applauds went out to Jeffrey Tobolski, candidate for Cook County Commissioner-16th District. Tobolski, a very energetic candidate, is campaigning on ethical accountability, working to roll back the sales tax increase and strengthening relationships with local businesses in the District. As the current Mayor of McCook, he has demonstrated that he doesn’t just talk the talk – he walks the walk. Paraphrasing a snippet from his website he reduced a $2.5 million deficit without raising taxes, while increasing personnel on the Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments. He secured the MAX indoor sports arena on behalf of the Village of McCook, where 363,000 people pass through every year. He has also been instrumental in bringing two successful business parks currently in development to McCook, which will create jobs. Tobolski grew up in McCook and still resides there with his wife Cathleen and daughter, Emily. He’s a member of Aging Well Connections, the West Central Chamber of Commerce, and the Founder of the Lyons-McCook Business Association. By endorsing Tobolski, the majority of Mayors in the municipalities under the District must feel that he is just what the doctor ordered, breathing new life into a tired, worn-out Cook County Commission seat.
