Illinois State Representative Lisa Hernandez and her Youth Initiative for Civic Engagement Group (YICE) invite the public to join them in supporting the Cesar Chavez Food Drive by donating non-perishable food and goods that will help stock local Catholic Charities food pantry shelves.

Like many churches, schools and other organizations, YICE is participating in this year's “Souper Bowl of Caring”, a nationwide effort, timed to coincide with the Super Bowl, to help people who are hungry and in need.

The following items are needed:

 ·         Canned fruits and vegetables

·         Sugar

·         Bottled water

·         Dried pasta

·         Pancake mix

·         Paper towles

·         Flour

·         Syrup

·         Any non-perishable items

Donations may be dropped off February 1 thru March 28, 2012 at Rep. Hernandez’s Constituent Service Office, 2137 S. Lombard Ave., Suite 205 • Cicero, IL 60804.

Those who make donations are not only helping to stock pantry shelves, they are assisting the mission of the YICE iniative of encouraging youth to become involved and address the issues in their community by creating service learning projects.
