On Monday, January 23, The Math Spot at 3100 Oak Park Avenue in Berwyn’s Historic Depot District celebrated its Grand Opening with Mayor Robert Lovero, city officials and members of the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC). Most businesses opening their doors play a number game. The Math Spot, which opened last September thought literally, and designed their business around a full-on atmosphere of mathematics. Presenting a full range of tutoring options and assistance from the basics of general math to the complexity of advanced calculus, along with prep services on high school placement and ACT college admission exams, the Math Spot offers their assistance to 6th graders through adults. The Math Spot founder Ayten Santillan, has lived and worked in the Berwyn/Cicero area for over 22 years and has been a certified math teacher for over 11 years. She holds a B.A. in secondary education with a specialization in middle school math and a Masters in Education Administration with administrative certificate by the State of Illinois. Believed to be the first service of this kind in the area, the City of Berwyn was happy to welcome The Math Spot.
