As of Friday, February 3, another leg of the Des Plaines River Project has been completed with the removal of the Fairbanks Dam.  In the coming weeks the US Army Corps of Engineers will begin work on additional improvements, enhancing the usability of Swan Pond Park.

Improvements scheduled include:  a face lift of the current vegetation, restoration of the river wall, a new pathway along the river and a new drainage swale to help alleviate flooding issues.

While the work is in progress the area around the park will be fenced off for public safety.
