Currently there is an email flying around that all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies this month so you should expect to start receiving sales calls on your dime.  The email goes on to say to prevent this you should call an 888 number from your cell phone (and only your cell phone) to block this action.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Traffic Safety Division an American dies at the hands of an impaired driver every 30 minutes.  In an effort to eradicate this avoidable statistic IDOT has teamed with local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Riverside Police Department (RPD), to ensure motorists “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.

Leland Rodriguez, a little boy with a big heart Print E-mail

Escorted into Berwyn City Hall on Tuesday night, January 24 by his proud family, 5-year old Hillside resident Leland Rodriguez handed over money he raised in support of his heroes in the U. S. military.

According to his mother, Tasha, from the time Leland was 3, he has made it very clear that when he “grows up” he wants to serve his country, first in the military and then as a police officer.

School District 103 names new superintendent Print E-mail

Dr. Mary Jo Vladika has been named as the new superintendent of School District 103.  The announcement came during last night’s meeting.  She will begin her position on July 1, 2012.

Vladika is not new to the district; she has been employed by 103 for the past 5 years as the Curriculum Director.  Under her leadership the programs of study have been refined and improved as demonstrated by the district’s ISAT scores in Math and Reading, which have steadily increased.

Adding to diversity of the revitalized streetscape on Roosevelt Road, the former owner of Chesterfield’s on Chicago’s South Side, is opening a new gay nightclub and restaurant at 6319 Roosevelt in Berwyn.  The opening is scheduled for Friday, January 27.
